Quote from Pere; post-qualifying Italian GP

An unusually low 32nd from Pere today - hopefully he can pull something out of the bag come raceday...
The Team Aspar press release said that he had a "difficult adaptation to make at the jawdropping Mugello circuit, having some awkward moments as he attempted to get to grips with the Italian track."
Pere has been in the points at the past two Grands Prix, and clearly he'll want to continue that progression if he can this weekend.

Pere Tutusaus - 32nd: 2.02.195 (14 laps):
"In yesterday's sessions I couldn't get much data because the track was so wet; I like the track, despite it being bumpy and difficult. I don't yet feel comfortable with my riding style here.
We were going round in 2'02, but I hope that we can reduce that in the race by a second and finish in the top 20. I know that it will be difficult, but a fast start would put us in the fight. The key will be choosing a fast tyre."

Good luck for the race Tutu :)

Italian GP, Mugello - Friday

Pere Tutusaus: 27th - 2.23.928 (11 laps):
"My first impressions of the track are good. I think it's a track with good grip, despite being wet. This morning we only did six laps because we wanted to try a few different things. In the afternoon we were fast and the team are pleased.
We should be a little higher but for my first time here on a new track and in the wet I am happy. We still have a lot of improvements to make but we have tomorrow - hopefully it's dry and I can get my references for those conditions."

Pere: Quotes Ahead Of Italian GP

“I'm very happy with the results achieved in the last two races. After such a complicated weekend as I had at Le Mans, the outcome was fantastic.
It shows that we are working well... The key now is not to lose momentum and to keep on working, and to try to get more points in the races to come. In any case, it is my first year in World Championship and I believe that learning is very positive.”

Random Pic: CEV Round 2 In The Rain

CEV Round 2, Circuit de Catalunya - Result

UPDATE: Thanks to 'C' for the comment, which says that in fact, contrary to our initial post listing him as being classified, Pere didn't finish the race at all...
"He rode 3 laps and then fell while he was in 4th position."
It was a wet race and run by Joey Litjens of the Netherlands.
If we can get more info, quotes and pics then we'll pass them on...

(Thank you C)

UPDATE 2: Here's a results table that confirms the non-classified status.
Great shame for Pere; he'd done so well in France - and also pretty solidly in China too, in the wet :(

Pere: Post-race Quotes...

"I am very happy, because I didn't like the rain until four days ago. I felt comfortable and was able to take points, and for me the race split was the key moment. I was able to take off extremely fast, and was eighth without knowing anything about it!
I tried to avoid being swamped by the rest of the field, and was able to overcome my nerves and keep my position. I've been in the points for the past two races, and every day the Aprilia is working better."

Best Yet For Pere: 12th In Rain-Stricken French GP

A great result for Pere today, as he came home 12th in an eventful French GP run in tricky conditions.
The 125 race was rain-affected, starting dry (with Tutu 29th on the grid) but stopped with 9 of the 24 laps remaining as a shower started and a number of riders started to go down.
Pere was up to 21st by this point and so started from that position for the "second race" of 5 laps (calculated from arcane regs governing interrupted and foreshortened races).
The race was eventually won by Mike Di Meglio, and with an amazing comeback run from a justifiably elated 2nd place guy Bradley Smith.

Today's result puts Pere up to 24th in the overall Championship standings with 5 points.
Job well done Tutu :)

Pere - Friday Quotes...

28th Pere Tutusaus:
1.44.416 (15 laps):
"The track is one that I am liking; really beautiful and one at which I'm hoping for points, as in China. I gave my all, but I'm 28th at the moment and I don't consider that a good result. Luckily it's just the first go, and we have some more time to work on things. The morning session was the better of the two, we lost some of our feeling in the afternoon. The bike was working well, but I didn't feel comfortable. I hope to move up a few places tomorrow."

Go See: Pere's Trainer In Sergio Gadea Video Clip

Just a quick little tip for you, there's a link to a clip featuring Pere's trainer - Rafa Olcina over at one of our affiliate sites, TeamAspar.net in a piece of video about Sergio Gadea, another of the riders he trains.
The clip is from TVE's "Paddock GP" and was on following Sergio's heroic ride whilst injured at Qatar, and shows him in recovery and training with Rafa.

Incidentally you can find Rafa's blog here - in Spanish - with ongoing news and info about his training programmes and the riders and athletes he works with...

Pere - Quote after Chinese GP

In their press release the Aspar Team quite rightly point out that young rookie Pere Tutusaus had the best race of his fledgling career to match his impressive qualifying run. With 15 riders hitting the deck, he held his nerve and was calm to take a deserved 15th place and his first points.
Here's what the guy himself had to say...

"I had a great first lap, and I'm happy to see that the practice sessions are bearing fruit. The warmup was more difficult than I thought, but I was eager. We didn't have the exact wet setting needed, but even so this result is very good and I perhaps could have been in the top thirteen with a better fine tuning. I am very satisfied and will keep making goals."

As we've already said - superb run, and congrats on your first point! :)

Pere Takes First Point In Shanghai

An excellent, solid ride from Pere Tutusaus today in tricky conditions to bring home his Bancaja Aspar Aprilia in 15th place, taking his first World Championship point.
On a day when quite a few riders were caught out by wet to greasy conditions, he kept his head down and came in safe and sound, whilst other - and more experienced - guys were busy throwing it away.
Superb job; very glad I got up early to see this step forward in his career :)
And I can tell you it's also cheered me up a bit over Alvaro's awful day up in 250...

Here's the results in full...

Pere Tutusaus: Quotes, Day 2, Chinese GP

A suitably happy Pere following Quali 2, in which he managed to pick up a creditable P21 on the grid...

"I'm very happy, because we took my best grid position to date at a track that I wasn't familiar with. Time on the Playstation helped me a lot before the weekend, and it's through that that I got to know the track. The team have been working really hard and we were able to lower our times.
We've been steadily improving all weekend, and I think that we can have an excellent race. I'm highly motivated and my goal is a top thirteen placing. That way I will get points for the first time this season. The first laps are going to be incredible, so I'll pick a good tyre and go for it."

Pere Tutusaus: Quotes, Day 1, Chinese GP

Quotes from Pere after the first day's practice and qualifying...

"Everybody told me that this is a strange track, and that I wasn’t going to like it. I’m used to riding in kart tracks and slow circuits. Despite this, I loved riding here today. We need to drop our times down, but I don’t have anything in particular to focus on, because my team are doing a stupendous job.
We made some changes from Portugal, and the Aprilia is going really well now. I have my reference points from the first sessions, and now I will be hoping to improve things on the three or four corners that I feel we are slowest in taking. Hopefully tomorrow I can choose a good tyre to cut my times."

Sounding promising...
Good work Pere :)
