Hope You Like The New Colours

I have reskinned the website to reflect Pere's new 2008 kit and livery with the Aspar 125cc MotoGP squad.
I'll probably adapt things like header images further as more - and better - pictures emerge, but I just wanted to make a start and to make the website feel a bit more '2008'.... :)
Hope you all approve.
Cheers,
gb

Pere - First Pic In Aspar Livery

Thanks to stv21 for finding me this pic; the first I've seen *anywhere* (and god I've been looking!) of Pere at the latest tests, and of course - on the Aspar bike in his new Aspar kit.
As you can see he's inherited the flourescent orange swatch on the Bancaja symbol and other details, now that Faubel's moved on up to 250cc.

Hopefully now he's on the team - Aspar, being decent in the past on their pics / media side - we should see some more of this :)

Pere in 'Historias Sobre Ruedas' on Youtube

Go check out the videoclips posted by GaSa34 on Youtube for some cool clips of some of MotoGP's nice guys (and in lower classes too, not only the main MotoGP class, but also 250 and 125).
There's short documentaries (in Spanish) from a series called 'Historias Sobre Ruedas' on riders such as Andrea Dovizioso, Hector Barbera, both Aleix and Pol Espargaro and - of course, most importantly for us - our guy; Aspar's 125 squad newbie for 2008, Pere Tutusaus (who's in the clip above)....

Pere Tutusaus: Biography & Career

(*Above: some images from Pere's motorcycling career)

For Pere Tutusaus - the youngest member of the Bancaja Aspar Team - living in the world of two wheels, began at the age of two once his mother gave him his first motorbike, a Yamaha Piwi. At the age of seven, Pere started racing in Tous, a small village near Barcelona, and he scored the 11th position at the finish.
The following year (1998) he competed in the Cataluña initiation enduro championship, with a KTM given to him by his father the year before. He finished 3rd.
Throughout this year he made the third step of podium, except in the last race where he finished second. The quality of young Pere was evident and continued in 1999 when he was proclaimed champion of Cataluña initiation enduro championship, winning all the races except one. Those days he was riding a Polini motorbike in TV-Competition team (Tutusaus-Vila) created by his father.

2000 was a difficult year for Pere when he ran in the Cataluña enduro 65cc championship. That year the 65cc and 80cc were united categories and the adaptation became complicated.
Even so, the rider from Igualada also ran in the Cataluña supermotard and enduro championship - gaining the third position at the end of the season, riding a Kawasaki.

In 2001 Pere ran in the Cataluña and Andorra Promocup championships and managed runner-up with a Conti motorbike.
In 2002 Pere showed his value and skill once again and became RAC 50cc champion.  The Spaniard was extremely strong thourought the season and won all races except two. One, in which he could not race because of a bone fracture, and last race that was run in rain, in which Pere clinched the title. That year Pere also won a race in the Spanish cup in Valencia. The reward of a season filled with triumphs was to travel to the United States to compete as a Wild Card in the American mini motos championship. Pere ran in the categories of 50cc and 80cc and he collected a win and a third position. It was a great feat considering that he ran both races with a 50cc Metrakit and Pere remembers this North American adventure with much affection.

In 2003 Pere made his debut in 125cc, being part of the RACC Impala team (Honda) in the championship of Cataluña where his best result was a second, which he scored twice. That year he also made his debut in the CEV (Spanish championship) at the circuit of Albacete, where he did one of the best starts of his career to date: from 20th position on the grid he arrived at the end of the straight in the lead. A collision with another rider made him lose many positions, although he finally crossed the line in 16th.

In 2004 he ran in the championship of Cataluña and all the races of the Spanish Championship with the RACC-Caja Madrid Team (Honda), under the guidance of Emilio Alzamora and finished 22nd in the overall classification. In 2005 Pere continued in the RACC-Caja Madrid Team and won for the first time in 125cc., in the third race of the championship of Cataluña in Albacete. It was a hard year for the young rider, because he had many problems with the engine of his Honda which broke in several races.
In 2006 Pere raced with the RACC Derbi Team and, having recovered his optimism as well as his good speed, managed a second position and finished the fifth in the final classification of the Spanish Championship. This allowed him to make his debut as a Wild Card in the Cheste Grand Prix, where he finished in 26th.

The 2007 was probably one of the best years in the Pere’s career, because with the FMCV-Team he performed among the best riders currently in Spain and was able to finish fourth in the overall classification of the CEV championship. This year Pere also won a CEV race. It was the first race of the national championship that was run in Albacete, where the young rider won and also took the pole. The current roikie of the Bancaja Aspar Team was Wild Card in the Grands Prix of Portugal, Jerez, Cataluña and Valencia. His best results in his first grand prix outings that year was 16th in Jerez.

All these great results and achievements opened doors for the 125cc rookie and in 2008 Pere ran in both the CEV and the MotoGP 125cc world championship. 2009 sees him riding for Team Go Eleven PMS in the FIM Superstock 1000cc World Championship.

2008 Movers & Shakers in 125cc

As a bit of a taster, and to get things moving on this site, here's Eurosport's look at the 2008 125cc "Movers & Shakers"...

Aprilia

Britain's Bradley Smith has a new home at Polaris World and a full 2008 factory-spec Aprilia at his disposal.
Mattia Pasini's move up to 250s and Joan Olive's departure leaves Smith with the entire team at his beck and call and in a great position to become Britain's first 125 race winner since 1973.
He'll have a job on his hands to beat the three-strong Aspar team though, who retain world champion Gabor Talmacsi and race-winner Sergio Gadea.
With this season's championship runner-up Hector Faubel graduating to 250s though, Pere Tutusaus, a front-runner in the Spanish championship, comes in for his first full season of GP racing.

15-year-old Briton Scott Redding, who won races in this year's Spanish Championship, remains with Blusens as he graduates to the world championship, and will be paired with Efren Vazquez , who moves down from 250s to form an all-new line-up.
Stefan Bradl, who raced for the team this year, remains on an Aprilia, but with the Kiefer squad who have dropped down a class from 250s to run him, rookie Robin Lasser and Romainan Robert Muresan, who spent this season on an Ajo Derbi.

Danny Webb, the third Brit in the class, stays with Arie Molenaar Racing, but will have a new machine as the Dutch squad switch from Honda to Aprilia.
His team-mates in an expanded three-rider line-up will be American Steve Bonsey and Dutchman Hugo van den Berg, who raced for KTM and Blusens Aprilia this year.

Simone Corsi is sticking with Fontana Racing - the team that guided him to victory in Turkey this year - and has former Derbi rider Nico Terol alongside him.
Stefano Bianco stays with WTR, but his 2007 team-mate Andrea Iannone ships out to the I.C team who spent this season under the Multimedia banner.

Iannone will have Austrian Michael Ranseder, following his defection from Ajo Derbi, and Takaaki Nakagami - who became the youngest Japanese rider in championship history when he made his debut in Valencia - alongside him.
The clear-out for Matteoni Racing leaves a space for Roberto Lacalendola to slot in, while Sandro Cortese - a man many people tip for race wins in 2008 - is staying with the single-bike Caffe Latte team.

-----------------------------------------------

KTM

Only Randy Krummenacher retains a full factory-run machine, while Japan's Tomoyoshi Koyama, third in this year's championship, retains the backing of the Austrian concern but his shipped out to the Seedorf team, who ran Derbi's works squad this year.

Koyama will be paired with Italian Lorenzo Zanetti, who moves over from Matteoni Aprilia.
Alberto Puig's Repsol team have switched allegiances from Honda to KTM and have retained Spaniard Esteve Rabat and will pair him with newcomer Marq Marquez.

The Scot team have followed suit and will have class veteran Pablo Nieto and Raffaele de Rosa - both Aprilia riders this season - on their bikes.

-----------------------------------------------

Derbi

With Seedorf Motorsport having switched to KTM, the works team is taken over by Jorge Lorenzo's manager Dani Amatriain. Pol Espargaro - a title favourite for many and another Amatriain protégé - and Joan Olive make an all-Spanish line-up.

Ajo meanwhile, also have two new riders with Frenchman Mike di Meglio moving from Scot Honda and Dominique Aegerter coming in from IC Aprilia.

-----------------------------------------------

Honda

With the Japanese marque confirming they will not build two-strokes after 2009, just one team - the French FFM operation - will run their machinery. Rookie Louis Rossi rides a single bike.

-----------------------------------------------

Loncin

While things are slowing down for the Japanese manufacturers, they are certainly speeding up for the Chinese ones, who will have a team entered at world championship level for the first time.
Loncin, whose operation will be based in France, have resisted the temptation to sign Chinese riders and instead put ex-FFM man Alexis Masbou and Jules Cluzel, a returnee from 250s, on their bikes.

Hello, Hola & Welcome!

Hello, Hola, all that kind of greeting... ;)

Welcome to peretutusaus.net - the Pere Tutusaus fan site.
I probably ought to explain why it's here; bascially I made it for a similar reason as I embarked on my Alvaro Bautista websites with stv21 - that is to try and fill a gap for "international" / English-speaking fans of Spanish riders who aren't as yet properly represented on the web outside of Spain.

It's worth bearing in mind, on that subject, that deeper info about such riders often finds its way onto the radar only in Spanish so you'll have to bear with me if some of it isn't translated too well... I do my best with web translation tools and a dictionary and phrasebook!

Anyway, hopefully now that Pere has his place on the excellent Aspar team for this season it should be a bit easier to track down news and pictures to post up here, and to help spread and share the news.

Anyway - welcome - hope it becomes a useful site for any fans of Pere.

Cheers,
gb
